The Commission was responsible for reviewing areas where women were likely to suffer from discrimination and provide recommendations that can be addressed by the State. The Commission became a permanent state agency in 1965 and was transferred to the North Carolina Department of Administration in 1975. The council reviewed problems associated with employment, education, childcare, and politics.  The Assistant Director’s Public Relations series contain records on public information programs dealing with statewide and regional concerns for women.
