Bryan, Langdon Cheves of the Bank of the United States, and others on legal and personal subjects, Stanford's death (1816), colonization of free blacks (1828), and applicants for positions, including John Hogg of Fayetteville. Photocopies of letters (1805-1823) from Gaston to Roman Catholic bishops and archbishops concern lack of Catholic services in North Carolina (1812) and petition for priest to serve Washington and New Bern (1818); Catholics in New Orleans; possible obstacle to his remarriage (1814); and education for his daughters. Miscellaneous items include his opinion on a will (1819); bills for State Library books (1842); copy of song \"The Old North State\"; biographical sketch of Gaston; material about Gov.
