He, along with Growling God, Black God, and Water Sprinkler, were the first four Holy People encountered by the Navajo. This dance, also called the \"Night Chant\" or \"Nightway,\" is a multiple-night ceremony in which masked dancers personify the gods and invoke this protective form of Talking God along with eight other male yei. This image shows Yei bechei dancer in front leading a staggered line curving from the front center to the back right of the image and consisting of seven other masked dancers; all are stepping up with the right leg while the left leg is grounded. Each mask appears slightly different. The primary dancer in front has more elaborate headwear and clothing. Three Navajo men in contemporary clothing stand watching the dance at a bar in the left background. Several notations are handwritten in graphite below bottom edge of etched surface: \"25/30\" at bottom left; \"Yei-Bei-Chai\" at bottom center, \"Grey Cohoe\" at bottom right."},{"label":"Material","value":["Paper"]},{"label":"Medium","value":["Etching"]},{"label":"Format","value":["Etching"]},{"label":"Title","value":"Yei Bi Chei Dancers"},{"label":"Culture","value":["Diné (Navajo)"]},{"label":"Artist","value":["Cohoe, Grey"]}],"description":"Yei Bi Chei Dancers","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/nationalcowboymuseum/iiif/4fe31a4a-1c41-4782-974a-97269c615bec/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Yei Bi Chei Dancers","height":9007,"width":11909,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/nationalcowboymuseum/iiif/4fe31a4a-1c41-4782-974a-97269c615bec/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/nationalcowboymuseum/iiif/4fe31a4a-1c41-4782-974a-97269c615bec","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":2048,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4,8]}]},"height":9007,"width":11909},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/nationalcowboymuseum/iiif/4fe31a4a-1c41-4782-974a-97269c615bec/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/nationalcowboymuseum/iiif/4fe31a4a-1c41-4782-974a-97269c615bec/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/nationalcowboymuseum/iiif/4fe31a4a-1c41-4782-974a-97269c615bec/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/nationalcowboymuseum/iiif/logo"}
