Herbert and his 4 sons, Gordon, Alan, Campbell and Donald. Their daughter Joyce married Rev. Cecil Short and Jean married Rev. George Connolly (both in photo). Faith was later to marry the Rev. Thomas Terry. Alison Begbie married Arthur Short and their son Brian (in photo) was accepted as a CMS missionary (he tragically died not long into his service in Nth Australia). \n\nIn the next generation, the Lord raised up 7 more ordained clergy: Ken Short (in photo), David Connolly, Richard Begbie, Gordon Robinson, Graeme Begbie, Hugh Begbie, David Short. \n\nBut leaving Moore College and Sydney Diocese aside, as far as the kingdom of God goes, the impacts of the family go far wider. Almost all in this photo ended up serving the Lord just as faithfully (and perhaps even more fruitfully?) through their chosen professions and callings. Herbert & Emily’s daughter Charys was awarded the MBE for her nursing service as a CMS missionary in Africa.
