Their shirts also range from the grey flannel, AIF shirts, and possibly a civilian shirt. The two tunics on the men on the right hand side are also different if you look at the pockets. What we can see is that the man second from the left has a small 5 numeral on his slouch hat. This suggests he is 5th Lighthorse. You also can see several men wearing the leather gaiters of the Lighthorse. The most interesting is the man in the centre, fourth from the left. He seems to be wearing non-military shirt and trousers and has a really fascinating pair of overshoes that go over his toe and heel of his boots. Looking at the unit diaries of the 5th Lighthorse, they were in Palestine near the Jordan River in 1918-1919 when Knox was working with YMCA.'
