The Grand Council (Legislative Assembly for this Canton) has been discussing abolition for weeks. Debates have persuaded several politicians to the abolition cause so that by final vote a third of the house in favour - 32 out of 96.  The final decision will be made by male citizens in March.  Will affect the history of Geneva.  Prayer meetings being held, literature being disseminated and appeals made to electorate.  A rich banker M. Lenoir proposes forming a propaganda fund.  planned women's meeting will be a first.  A weekly paper the 'Signal de Geneve' edited by M. Thomas coming out 3 times a week til voting day.  The Catholic paper 'Courrier de Geneve' published a supportive article.  M. Lombard of the banking family another notable supporter.
