March 21, 1931  Mr. Ignacio Venegas  Guadalajara, Jal. Mexico  Dear Brother:  I received your letter dated the 8th of the present month to which I have the pleasure of referring.  First of all I ask you not to pay attention to the smallness of the writing because here we are  trying to economize and one cannot waste any ink or paper.  You tell me that my mom has continued being sick and that makes us very sad because there is  nothing worse than a chronic illness. Please God that soon that sickness will disappear forever.  Miguelito [Ignacio’s nephew] is going to write to you; they are behind in Spanish because ever  since they got here they don’t practice it very much. You tell me that you are catching on at the  store where you are working and that you already earn $25.00 pesos, we’ll continue learning  with determination until they pay you two or three pesos daily. You tell me that Lupita [Miguel’s  youngest sister] is very advanced in her studies, I hope she continues and she learns plenty,  everything depends upon the determination that one has. As for you, continue studying at home  because you are still at an age when you can learn much, and do plenty of writing exercises.  I am now in good health thanks be to God  Here everyone is fine and they send greetings to all and you already know that your oldest  brother loves you.
