December 11, 1931 Mr. Juan Venegas Ave. Colon 754 Guad. Jal. Mex. My Dear Dad: I confirm my former one and the present one is to tell you that a few days ago Trino Álvarez asked me to tell you that a certain Mr. Venegas,38 who is moving to that city, left some money here with Trino so that later it could be drawn through you. He also asks, if possible, that you please facilitate said gentleman whatever money he needs, while Trino arranges the remittance in the most convenient manner. Trino also asks to help said gentleman get started in something that he can do with his money. That gentleman has lived here for a long time but now there is no more work and he wants to try his fortune over there. Trino recommends him to you because he is a very good friend of his. I hope that to date all of you are in good health. We have Guillo sick and in general we have not been without someone being sick. Guillo is now wearing glasses his vision is so weak and Miguel and Ricardo need to have their tonsils removed. Lola suffers very much from a back pain and her feet hurt very much. I no longer feel anything, I don't have time to also be sick. The situation here is critical: yesterday I went through downtown and I was constantly approached by American individuals asking for a nickel for coffee. In the parish hall next to the church of Our Lady of Los Angeles [la Placita] more than one thousand persons are fed daily; and the majority are Americans even though this dining room was established mainly to help the Mexicans who are out of work, but these prefer to tighten their belts (when will our pride disappear?) or they take out on credit and they don't pay as it happens to me with some of my customers who lost their jobs. I would like to know how your business is doing. Have your sales increased? And you and Nacho, are you over your headaches? I would like to know the rate of exchange of the dollar now and for how much you finally sold that money order. With nothing more for now may you continue in good health. Receive greetings from Lola and the children and you the affection from your son who asks for your blessing. Miguel"},{"label":"Is Part Of","value":"Venegas Family Papers, Collection Number 99, Series 1. Subseries A.
