March 24, 1931  Mr. Pancho Venegas,  Dear uncle Pancho,  I write you these few lines to say hello and tell you a few things. Guillermo as well as the baby  have been sick. Guillermo has a cough and asthma, and Juanito has a lump under his little arm.  Today they took Juanito to the doctor but he did not say anything. We are all fine and you?  Thanks be to God.  We miss you very much. We are thinking how we can best go back. Ricardo and I have been  saving money so we can go by car or by train. I am going to work as a paperboy in order to help  my dad who doesn’t sell very much. The pay is $3.50 per week. Many families are leaving and  we also hope to be leaving soon.  My teacher tells me I have advanced in my voice (lessons), and that I am ahead of all the others  in my class. And that is all I have to say.
