My esteemed brother:  I received your letters dated the 5th and the 6th of the present month and I acknowledge all  information stated therein. Before responding, I wish you a happy New year, hoping the new  year will bring, God willing, the remedy needed for all our ills, as well as business prosperity. I  hope you are now working under better circumstances than before, if so, I would like to know  the details.  I am aware of the points in reference to Lebre and Co. and cannot but see the consequences of  the circumstances and nothing more; I have done everything I could and that is it. On my part I  am absolutely convinced that the land properties are only good for tormenting my spirit; life is  simpler for those who do not have business preoccupations at this level.  I understand you will have a few days off and I ask you to go see if Anita still has some things  left there and to offer them in payment for my debts to the businesses that you already know. I  don't think they will be badly received, at least as credit with some of the merchandise that over  time may be ruined without any profit, and besides they have caused enough inconveniences in  that house.  I acknowledge what you tell me about the calf and about the rest of the items you mention.  I am glad to see that my mother is getting somewhat better.
