November 20, l928  Mr. Francisco Venegas  Guadalajara, Jal.  My esteemed brother:  With pleasure I have read your letter dated the 13th of the present month, which I now address. I  am very pleased that you have resolved the matter regarding the Casa Paulsen and of course I am  very grateful. I did not receive the liquidation sheet you refer to, but it doesn't matter. It would be  best to propose the sewing machines to the Solórzano Bros., to whom according to them, I owe  $257.58 pesos.  Some time ago, through the same Solórzano gentlemen, I sent a letter to the Lebre gentlemen  authorizing them to accept the now famous merchandise; once my account was settled and  assuming that there would be some money left over, the Lebre would hand it over to Solórzano  to cover my debt with them. However the Solórzano gentlemen were told that when they [Lebre]  unpacked said merchandise they were greatly surprised to find that its value would not even  cover my debt.  The Solórzano gentlemen tell me in the last paragraph cited: \"We don't know if they are right,  but as much as we have begged and insisted to these gentlemen, we have not been able to get  them to deviate from their position. If you have any proof of this merchandise that the Lebre  gentlemen have in their possession on your account, it would be very helpful to us.\"  You can now see what is happening with this situation, to which I would like to know your  opinion. I see two scenarios: that the merchandise really wasn't worth that much, for my debt  must be at least three thousand, or that the merchandise was appraised to almost half of its value.  I will write to the Solórzano gentlemen and then, since I will do it through you, I will tell you of  my decision regarding the  sewing machines.  Regarding that business of don José, I only tell you that he hasn't communicated with me and  you can tell him to please get in touch with me directly, that by writing to me in a few days, I  will have an answer for each question asked, and not to give me the round about, that he knows  my address.  I encourage you to seriously think about coming over, it would help you very much.  We are really happy about Lupita and by the way I think the persecution of our faith has  beneficial results in a certain way, because fervor is increased, something that over here where  there is no oppression, does not exist to the same degree. We await the photos.  You tell me that you have received the chains I sent you, but they're not worth much.
