A. Cal.  January 19, 1928  Mr. Juan Venegas  Guad. Jal. Mex.  Dear Dad:  I have your letter dated the 8th of the present month which we have read with great joy.  Up to now, apart from what happened to Miguelito, there are no complaints. As for our little  business, although it doesn't make a great deal, I at least have the advantage of working for  myself and at the same time it allows me to understand this system of commerce. God knows  well what is best for me because, due to my illnesses, other types of work would be too difficult  for me; although for now I have been in good health, perhaps due to the cold weather.  I almost forgot to tell you that we were given $65.00 dollars for Miguelito's injury and so far he  hasn't shown any serious consequences, he is well now, he has gained weight and has grown.  The only one who is a bit under the weather is Ricardo, and Eduardo has also been sick for  awhile, he has asthma and Ricardo as well.  I am aware that the lawyer [in Mexico] hasn't done anything, and so I will try to accept the  consequences, as if I were dead. If any of you know something with respect to my business that  is in need of a solution, please let me know.  I am aware that you plan to move.  Greetings to all from Lola and the boys.
