October 30, 1928  Mr. Francisco Venegas  Guadalajara, Jal.  Very esteemed brother:  I have the pleasure of referring to your letter dated the 19th of the month. I acknowledge what  you tell me about the money, and I expect them to tell me something about it.  You ask me if there is a road to San Francisco, yes there is and a very good one like the others  that go all over the nation. If we haven't gone to see Sor Gabriela it's because we have no one to  leave in charge of the “Pendejon\" [stupid store]. I am going to see what I can do once this \"hell\"  [hot weather] is over because by now over there it's cloudy and cold and the road isn't as pretty  as it is after the rainy season. I wish you and others could come around February or March so  that we could all go together.  I received news that there is a box containing hardware items in Mr. Martinez' house located at  Jalisco #225 and I beg you to go to Paulsen y Cia. and ask them on my behalf to receive that in  payment of what I owe. I will also write to them and include it in this one, as well as to the  Martinez' gentlemen so that they will have these items ready.  With nothing more for now I await a letter from you and say good-bye.  Regards to my parents and all the brothers, and also from Lola and the chicanos [Mexican  children raised in the US].
