It initially housed the U.S. Post Office, the U.S. Court House, and other Federal agencies, such as the Attorney General's office, the IRS, and the FBI. It was the location of The House Un-American Activities Committee hearings. Two additional Federal buildings were added to the Civic Center, west of Los Angeles Street on Temple. The Civic Center is bounded by Figueroa, San Pedro, First, and the Hollywood Freeway. One of the largest government complexes in the world, it includes the Federal Building, the Federal Post office, City Hall, County Hall of Justice, County Hall of Records, the Department of Water and Power, the Music Center Complex, and County Courts.
