When it opened in 1929, the building was one of the first Art Deco structures built in the United States. The exterior featured its famous 241-foot tower with a tarnished green top in copper. Bullocks Wilshire department store was regarded as innovative because it catered to the burgeoning automobile culture in Los Angeles. Its main clientele included Mae West, John Wayne, Marlene Dietrich, Alfred Hitchcock, and Greta Garbo, serving the upper class of the society. Operated as a luxury department store for more than 60 years, the Art Deco landmark building was purchased by Southwestern Law School in 1994."},{"label":"Transcription","value":"On back: \"Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, California where the elite of Hollywood and Beverly go to shop.\""},{"label":"Language","value":"eng"},{"label":"Publisher","value":"Los Angeles: News Stand Distributors"},{"label":"Type","value":["Postcards"]},{"label":"Digital Identifier","value":"LML_MS-042-005320001"},{"label":"Object Identifier","value":"LML_MS-042-00532"},{"label":"Geographic Location","value":"Wilshire Boulevard (Los Angeles, Calif.)"},{"label":"Subject","value":"Department stores--California--Los Angeles; Buildings--California--Los Angeles; Stores, Retail--California--Los Angeles; Streets--California--Los Angeles; Automobiles"},{"label":"Creator","value":"Tichnor Quality Views"},{"label":"Title","value":"Bullock's new store, Wilshire Boulevard"},{"label":"Date Range","value":"circa 1930"},{"label":"Source","value":"Department of Archives and Special Collections, William H.
