A second City Hall was built on Broadway between 2nd and 3rd streets in 1888. The third and current City Hall, with its obelisk tower, is bounded by Temple, Main, First, and Spring, and was completed in 1928. At the time, the city had a height restriction of 12 stories, making the new 454 foot high, 32-story building the tallest in the city. At the peak is an airplane beacon named in honor of Lindbergh. The building material included sand from every county in California and water from all 21 California Missions. The new Hall of Records on Temple between Broadway and Hill was built between 1957 and 1962 at a cost of $13.7 million. Designed by Richard Neutra, it was described as the world's biggest filing cabinet."},{"label":"Transcription","value":"On back:\"Palm trees, a Los Angeles trade mark, help to frame the City Hall and Hall of Records in this beautiful night scene.\""},{"label":"Language","value":"eng"},{"label":"Publisher","value":"Los Angeles, Calif.: Western Publishing & Novelty Co."},{"label":"Type","value":["Postcards"]},{"label":"Digital Identifier","value":"LML_MS-042-003170001"},{"label":"Object Identifier","value":"LML_MS-042-00317"},{"label":"Geographic Location","value":"Downtown Los Angeles (Los Angeles, Calif.)"},{"label":"Subject","value":"City halls--California--Los Angeles; Public buildings--California--Los Angeles; Civic centers--California--Los Angeles"},{"label":"Title","value":"City Hall and Hall of Records, Los Angeles, California"},{"label":"Date Range","value":"circa 1980"},{"label":"Source","value":"Department of Archives and Special Collections, William H.
