Kinney and Ryan built the Ocean Park Pier together in 1898, seeking to develop a fishing and pleasure pier. However, when Ryan died in October 1898, Kinney fell out with his new partners and the property was divided. Kinney went on to develop the marshy southern part of the property to create his \"Venice of America,\" while his former partners developed Ocean Park. The Ocean Park Bathhouse, which opened in 1905, was a monumental structure. It stood next to the beach, and offered heated salt water swims for those who found the Pacific Ocean too cold or too dangerous. In 1912 the bathhouse was completely destroyed by fire along with Fraser's newly built Million Dollar Pier."},{"label":"Language","value":"eng"},{"label":"Publisher","value":"San Francisco: Edward H.
