Jal. Mex. My Dear Dad: I refer to your letter dated the 17th of last month that I had not answered waiting for more news from you since you said you would be writing to Lola. Today, since we do not have recent letters from you, it pleases me to write this one knowing through Chayo's letter that all of you are in good health, thanks be to God. By my last letter you will know that Lalo is now with us safe and sound. He was released after being two weeks in the hospital. God willed to return him to us for now, praise be to Him, but we have not been spared, Lola has gotten very thin due to so many little painful events and she furthermore has an additional grief in that Don Silviano hardly ever writes even though she writes to him and he never answers. It surprises me that Chole has not written to me anymore because I have written to her for a long time now and I have not yet received an answer. Tell us, how your little business is doing. This one here is in very bad shape, I doubt I will make enough to cover expenses, which for me are very heavy and I no longer have the income help of the garages because no one is renting now. My car is mortgaged. Regarding the business of the exchange with Trino's houses that I was telling you about, nothing will be done. He still owes on one of the houses and furthermore I am better informed now and they are not worth more than one thousand dollars each as long as the sale is on installments, as is the custom here: of at least five years. On the other hand it is also difficult to deed the land over there. Also since so many people have left, there is no one to rent these houses because there are many vacancies in the area where Trino lives and there's no streetcar service to that part of town. I hope you all continue without any bad news. We all greet you very affectionately. Miguel P.S. Tell me if the situation improved with the change in Governor and if things continue getting worse."},{"label":"Is Part Of","value":"Venegas Family Papers, Collection Number 99, Series 1.
