Al Staudinger Marble Works"},{"label":"Note","value":"Located on the east shore of now dry Owens Lake of the Owens Valley, Keeler, California, was a terminus point for the Carson and Colorado Railroad and also a shipping point for ore across the Owens Lake through steamboat service first established in 1872. Keeler was especially important as a place of transit for the lead and silver ore from the mining town of Cerro Gordo, eight miles to the northeast in the nearby Sierra Nevada. Cerro Gordo is the greatest producer of lead and silver ore in the history of California.
