Mex. Dear Father: I answer your letter dated the 29th of April that is in my possession opportunely. When I received your letter I had also just received a letter from a Mr. Felipe Jiménez of Zapotlanejo regarding the rental of the lands, and I didn't give it much importance and neither did I answer him believing he was a son of Don Luciano. Afterwards I realized that it was someone else and so I wrote to him asking for information regarding the matter. Afterwards we received a letter from Don Silviano informing us he had loaned the ranch house to that person and he was going to plant whatever he could at the Ingenio [the ranch]. I take note of the warning you give me regarding this matter. I acknowledge the sale of things indicated in your letter. I have passed on the message you sent to Trino Álvarez. I received a letter from Soledad not too long ago and she always sends regards to all of you. Lola and the boys send an affectionate greeting to you as well as to my mother and to my brothers and sisters. I want you to know that the three year lease for the store is almost up and I saw the owner who told me he was willing to give me a new contract if that was my wish; taking into consideration what you have told me about the actual situation in Mexico, I believe it advisable to renew it for at least three more years, while we see how things turn out there. With nothing else for now and awaiting your wishes I remain as always: your affectionate son who asks for your blessing. M. Venegas"},{"label":"Is Part Of","value":"Venegas Family Papers, Collection Number 99, Series 1. Subseries A.
