Edwin Bergstrom in 1908. Located at 523 West Sixth Street, this six-story building was clad in white terra cotta with Corinthian columns. The Pacific Mutual Company was established in Sacramento in 1868. As the second charter bank in California, the Pacific Mutual Company in Los Angeles merged with Conservative Life Insurance of Los Angeles to become the Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company in 1905. The company headquarters moved to Los Angeles after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Due to its previous earthquake experience, the Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company building was designed to withstand earthquakes with fireproofed concrete and fitted windows with concealed rolling steel shutters. The original building is the oldest remaining structure adjacent to Pershing Square and is now known as the PacMutual Building."},{"label":"Language","value":"eng"},{"label":"Publisher","value":"San Francisco: EDW.
