It passes through MacArthur Park (formerly named Westlake Park) and several major shopping areas including Beverly Hills, the "Miracle Mile", and Westwood, and alongside Lafayette Park (formerly named Sunset Park)" Westlake Park was originally developed by William Workman in the 1880s. In its natural state, the area was an undesirable ravine, but Mr. Workman organized the creation of a lake and brought in tons of fertilizer to create a lush, green park. It offered boating, meandering paths, and a space for outdoor concerts. Originally, Wilshire Boulevard ended at the lake, but was extended in 1934 to pass through the park. The park was renamed in honor of General Douglas MacArthur in 1942."},{"label":"Language","value":"eng"},{"label":"Publisher","value":" Detroit Publishing Co."},{"label":"Type","value":["Postcards"]},{"label":"Digital Identifier","value":"LML_MS-042-001720001"},{"label":"Object Identifier","value":"LML_MS-042-00172"},{"label":"Geographic Location","value":"Los Angeles (Calif.); MacArthur Park (Los Angeles, Calif.)"},{"label":"Subject","value":"Parks--California--Los Angeles; Boats and boating--California--Los Angeles; Boathouses--California--Los Angeles;"},{"label":"Title","value":"A winter's day in West Lake Park, Los Angeles, Calif."},{"label":"Date Range","value":"circa 1905"},{"label":"Source","value":"Department of Archives and Special Collections, William H.
