August 26, 1927 Mr. Juan Venegas Guadalajara Jal. Mex. Dear Father: I have received with great joy your esteemed letter dated the 19th of the present. It would help me very much if Pancho would go to don Manuel to inquire how my affairs are coming along and then write to me on that matter. I am interested in knowing if he has received a power of attorney for Lola that I sent and another letter requesting that a lawyer represent me, or rather, that he represent Lola who represents me. Today I will also write to Lola and advise her about the same matter. I believe it is advisable that she in turn name a proxy for herself. I say this in case they have already declared bankruptcy on my business, which is what don Manuel said that the Favier gentlemen intended to do. In case it all gets settled as they said they intended, then I believe it won’t be necessary to name a proxy; although I think that it would be a good idea to do so anyway so that Lola won't have to wait indefinitely and lose the opportunity of coming with her father. I am now of the opinion that if my family comes, they do it soon because there is a risk that they may not be allowed to do so later. As for the Lebre gentlemen, I have not received a single letter from them. Please ask Pancho to go see them and inquire what they intend to do with what [merchandise] they have there. I believe that a proxy lawyer of ours would be very useful for all of our affairs and I have asked Lola to pursue this with the lawyer García Guzmán, of whom I have good references. I am aware that Eduardo is recovering and that Don Silviano is already in that city making arrangements for the trip, I hope that he will not find it inconvenient to wait a little for Lola [to finish some business transactions]. Here, it is impossible to get oneself well situated in a short time; however it is true that several houses have offered me a job as soon as they have an opening. As for now I work at the same place and I am very comfortable because most of us are from the same area, one of them being don Salvador Ruiz. With nothing more to say and hoping all are in good health your son awaits your blessing. Miguel"},{"label":"Is Part Of","value":"Venegas Family Papers, Collection Number 99, Series 1. Subseries A.
