Dear Dad:  I received your esteemed letter dated the 2nd of the present month which like all the other ones  was read with great joy by all of us in this house.  We are very happy to hear that Don Silviano has arrived safely and I would like to know if he  had any problems going through customs or if he had to pay anything and if so, how much.  I am made aware of the point regarding money, and as you indicate to me, it will be very  desirable to have a sale of whatever is made available. If a buyer turns up for the typewriter it  can be sold for up to $100 one hundred pesos or let me know what is offered.  I don’t believe it is a good idea to sell the sewing machine because it will not bring a good price;  here, one in similar condition would go for about $50 or $60 dollars.  It was a very good idea for you to take in the calf for only then will it be secure. I am made  aware of the point that refers to Patricio Cárdenas.  It has been a month since I took the \"Grocería\" (the 26th of last month) which is how grocery  stores are called here and it seems to me that it isn't such a bad business. Today $45 dollars was  sold even though it’s the winter time which is [normally] bad; and even on the worst days sales  are about $18 to $20 dollars, which for $600 dollars worth inventory seems good to me. And  besides here the merchandise is sold with a 20% profit. The expenses here are few, for all  together only $20 a year [in taxes] is paid to the Government.  For now, one of the sons of the gentleman who sold me the store is helping me, since it is  impossible for Lola to help me, because the house is not connected to the store and there is no  room for her to leave the boys.
