John Henry Dockweiler's professional expertise lay in engineering. He has played an important role in building the infrastructure of modern Los Angeles and the development of water systems in California. John Henry served two terms as the City Engineer of Los Angeles in 1890-1894 and 1896-1898. Also, he has served as a consulting engineer to the city governments of San Francisco and Oakland. John Henry and his brother Isidore B.
