Los Angeles: Loyola Marymount University, 2011."},{"label":"Note","value":"Loyola Marymount University traces its origins back to St. Vincent's College for Boys, founded in 1865 by the Vincentian Fathers. When St. Vincent's College closed in 1911, members of the Society of Jesus founded Los Angeles College. Reverend Richard Gleeson, S.J., was the first college president from 1911 to 1914. In 1917, Los Angeles College moved to Venice Boulevard. A year later the school was incorporated as Loyola College of Los Angeles. In 1929, Loyola College was relocated to the Westchester campus, and the school achieved university status one year later, becoming Loyola University of Los Angeles. Reverend Hugh C. Duce, S.J., was the seventh President of Loyola University from 1932 to 1937.
