Dear Dad:  I write these lines to tell you what happened to us yesterday: Lalo [Eduardo] is now in the  hospital waiting to have a dry bean that lodged itself in the respiratory tract taken out. Thanks to  an opening that the doctor made below it,he was able to come to because he was already dead  when they placed the little apparatus that is seen in the picture that I send you. It was a miracle  that he was saved and all the newspapers here have published this story. God decided to leave  him with us still but it has served us as a reminder to understand that it is not good to become so  fond of one's children as we are with this boy, who in his manner of being is so different from  the rest. Nevertheless we are not sure of the success of the operation that is to be performed; I  will let you know of his progress.
