My dear brother:  With no letter to have the pleasure of referring to I address the present one that serves the  purpose of greeting all of you and to tell you the following:  I have been thinking on how best to resolve the matter of the houses which are pending with  those gentlemen J.M Gonzalez, S. and C. In one copy of my account that those gentlemen sent  me it appears that they have offered the deed of sale of the houses to a certain Mr. José A.  Sanchez, by which it seems that they have passed the matter on to a third person perhaps for a  better outcome.  I believe the sale of those houses for its just price and for cash, is not an easy thing because it is a  known fact that under the present circumstances there are probably not many interested persons,  and if someone intended to buy he would do it under very advantageous terms for himself.  Furthermore there is a clause in the deed of sale that was offered to those gentlemen which says  that they also have rights over the Rancho Viejo property that as a precaution was made to  appear in it as well.  This makes me consider that there may be a risk if the sale is not done with just the right kind of  understanding buyer, because otherwise that property can be left very entangled.  I don't know if they have proposed the business to Mr. Padilla, but I believe that he would not  offer more than the amount that is owed to those gentlemen which is:  $4,570.71 [pesos] and perhaps also what is owed to him.  Setting aside what this Mr. Padilla, who would be the most probable buyer, could resolve, I want  to suggest to you the following idea: if it is not an inconvenience for you to speak with the  person that is handling this matter and tell him that you are trying to sell these properties on  my behalf while at the same time leaving them guaranteeing said account until the sale is  completed and my debt totally liquidated.  We can of course offer the surplus of four thousand upon making the sale and one thousand per  year as the minimum, but at the same time offering to liquidate as soon as possible.  I don't know if my father would want the deeds of the houses to be extended to him because they  ought not to be in my name.
