In 1872, it suffered one of the greatest earthquakes in Californian history, estimated at 7.6 or greater on the Richter scale. During the construction of the Los Angeles Aqueduct (1908-1913), Lone Pine housed many of the aqueduct workers and the Southern Pacific Railroad extended its rail line to the town to supply the work of building the aqueduct. Contemporary Lone Pine hosts the \"Lone Pine Film Festival\", which commemorates the area's use as a locale in innumerable Western films."},{"label":"Source","value":"Center for the Study of Los Angeles Research Collection, Loyola Marymount University"},{"label":"Digital Identifier","value":"LML_CSLA-15-001000001"},{"label":"Date Range","value":"circa 1920-1939"},{"label":"Type","value":["Other"]},{"label":"Rights","value":"https://library.lmu.edu/archivesandspecialcollections/copyrightandreproductionpolicy/"},{"label":"Location","value":["Lone Pine (Calif.)","Whitney, Mount (Calif.)"]}],"description":"Lone Pine, California.
