Voter registration lists from Inyo County record a Louis Munzinger as residing in Bishop in 1922, 1926 and 1928. According to these records, John Mallory was a blacksmith there in 1922 and a James McBride lived in Bishop in 1922 and 1926. The Birchims were a pioneer family of ranchers in Bishop, with a son named Will, who is perhaps our \"Billie.\" As for Black, he bought this saloon in 1888. In 1902 he opened a saloon Big Pine, and later moved his family there. He also developed mining interests in the Chrysopolis, California area, beginning in the late 1890s. While possibly a  miner in Virginia City, Nevada, John Black met Rose Carroll and married her in Bridgeport, California; the couple resided in Bodie, California, until moving to Bishop, in 1886. He was the father of J. D. Black (1893-1960), seen here in the photograph. John Black died in 1923."},{"label":"Source","value":"Center for the Study of Los Angeles Research Collection, Loyola Marymount University"},{"label":"Digital Identifier","value":"LML_CSLA-15-000990001"},{"label":"Date Range","value":"circa 1894-1898"},{"label":"Type","value":["Photographs"]},{"label":"Rights","value":"https://library.lmu.edu/archivesandspecialcollections/copyrightandreproductionpolicy/"},{"label":"Location","value":["Bishop (Calif.)"]}],"description":"John Black's Saloon","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/lmudigitalcollections/iiif/26b7e263-1e82-495f-ae46-64c1c6dd1f4b/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"John Black's Saloon","height":4747,"width":5987,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/lmudigitalcollections/iiif/26b7e263-1e82-495f-ae46-64c1c6dd1f4b/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/tif","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/lmudigitalcollections/iiif/26b7e263-1e82-495f-ae46-64c1c6dd1f4b","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":2048,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":4747,"width":5987},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/lmudigitalcollections/iiif/26b7e263-1e82-495f-ae46-64c1c6dd1f4b/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/lmudigitalcollections/iiif/26b7e263-1e82-495f-ae46-64c1c6dd1f4b/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/lmudigitalcollections/iiif/26b7e263-1e82-495f-ae46-64c1c6dd1f4b/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/lmudigitalcollections/iiif/logo"}
