Discarded telephone poles were used as benches, and in 1946, surplus generators from World War II provided energy for electric lighting, and a makeshift stage was constructed. The Burbank Symphony often used the facility for rehearsals, due to its excellent acoustics. In 1951, a contest to name the bowl was held, and Katherine Willeford's entry, the \"Skyline Bowl\" was chosen, but changed to \"Starlight Bowl\" shortly afterward. At around the same time, the amphitheater received a new concrete stage and dressing rooms, some landscaping to increase the seating capacity, and wooden benches to seat 3,000 people. Since then, the Starlight Bowl has been a popular venue for school programs, benefits, and concerts, and is especially well known for its 4th of July show."},{"label":"Transcription","value":"On back: \"This world famous open air theatre is located high above the city in Sough Park.\""},{"label":"Language","value":"eng"},{"label":"Publisher","value":"1047 N.
