The Bandstand building and the Scenic Railway were located on the west side of Ocean Front Walk on the North side of the Venice Pier.  The Thompson Scenic Railroad was a roller coaster built in 1910 by the L. A. Thompson Company, and which ran until 1919.  In 1946 the city council decided to tear down the Venice pier.
