Bullocks Wilshire department store was regarded as innovative because it catered to the burgeoning automobile culture in Los Angeles. Its main clientele included Mae West, John Wayne, Marlene Dietrich, Alfred Hitchcock, and Greta Garbo, serving the upper class of the society.
