November 25, 1927 Mr. Juan Venegas Guadalajara, Jal. Mexico Dear Dad: I received your much esteemed letter dated the 12th of the present month and through it we know that all of you are well, thanks be to God. I now know why the lawyer wasn't receiving my letters, the address that I had of his was incorrect; but by now he should have received all those letters that I have since written to him. I am made aware of what you tell me about the business proposed to don Pedro Dávila, and I have addressed the matter to the Lebre gentlemen. We are very grateful to you for what you propose we do with our children and even though for now we cannot do it, we will keep it in mind in case it is needed. And, at the same time we have reflected that the absence of the children would surely leave us with a thorn piercing our hearts and it would take a very long time before we could become accustomed to it. You have every right to expect that at least they live with those of you living there. After we finished reading your letter, I saw that Lola, with tears in her eyes, was saying: I am so glad that my Dad has already gone; for he had left about three days ago. And to this date we would like to know how his trip to that city was. A few days ago Miguel and Ricardo started school at Our Lady Queen of Angel’s school which is staffed by religious; they go by themselves and they already know how to count in English. The nuns are very good, and the boys are well liked. And Guillo says he also wants to go; surely we will have to send him. They remember all of you and miss you very much; they even jumped with joy when we showed them your letter. Whenever you have some money for us, will you do me the favor of telling me so I can arrange for its transmittal? I have now decided to dedicate myself to the little business that is being proposed to me because, for now, jobs are scarce and paying poorly. Many regards to my mother and all my brothers, and wishing that our Lord will preserve you in good health; your son who says goodbye and awaits your blessing.
