The two-story mission-style structure was designed by architect C.H. Brown and built by contractor H.X. Goetz.  The building served as the headquarters for the city's municipal government from 1903 to 1938.  In 1938 City Hall was relocated to a new building at 1685 Main Street, a structure built as one of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) projects.  The original city hall building was sold to James E.
