Greeley was the editor of the New York Tribune and adopted a Radical Republican stance during the early years of the Civil War. He opposed Lincoln on many issues and wanted stronger opposition to the Confederacy and efforts towards emancipation. In the summer of 1862 he published the editorial \"The Prayer of Twenty Millions\" as an appeal for emancipation. In contrast to the harshly portrayed Greeley, Lincoln is shown here as intelligent and composed. To many, including Lincoln, the continuing diatribe from Greeley was obnoxious and unhelpful. Ironically though, the battle of Antietam would follow not long after this cartoon's publication resulting in Lincoln's announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation."},{"label":"Creator","value":["Stephens, H.
