The use of iron and its unadorned surface impart that this paperweight might have been on a Japanese scholar's writing table. * The Four Treasures comprise the tools used by a classical Chinese scholar - mainly the writing brush, the ink stone, the ink stick, the paper. Others are the ink-stone, the seals, the paper weight, the brush holder, the brush washer, the water dropper, and the brush rest.
