Various figures are shown carrying a giant petition through town surrounded by a number of signs. One sign says \"tightrope interest\" alluding to the dangerous and selfish interests and issues that led to war. Part of the procession is a fatted calf that is being led to slaughter. Leading the procession is President Lincoln carrying dice with a sign referencing \"Roulette.\" This serves to identify the war as an unnecessary gamble and strengthens the argument for resolution of the war. This reflects the high number of Democrats in New York, as many of them were hesitant to undertake harsh execution of the war and exhibited pro-Confederate tendencies. Some New York Democrats, such as Horatio Seymour, were ridiculed for their wavering stance on the war."},{"label":"Alternate Title","value":"\"MR.
