Round Top (also known at the time as Sugar Loaf Mountain) is the highest elevation (757 feet), fully wooded. To its left is what became known as Little Round Top (665 feet), known by locals prior to the battle as Granite Spur and called Weed's Hill by historian John Batchelder. The artist has sought to indicate how portions of the west slope of Little Round Top were cleared of trees.
