Upside down, as reflected in the water, the man is smiling, saying, \"All right my lads, I'll protect ye,\" while looking at the reflection of the ship that is now named the Nashville. While in dry dock in Britain, the Confederate vessel, Nashville, was protected from the Union warship Tuscarora. When the Nashville was prepared to set sail, the British reminded the captain of the Tuscarora that according to international law, a ship was allowed a twenty-four hour head start before a pursuer could begin the chase.
