The Nicolas Codori homestead was a red brick structure, also referenced as a guiding point for Pickett's Charge. There had been a small gray wooden barn to the south of the house; a large red post-war barn sits there today. The Emmitsburg Road was not an improved pike with tolls at the time of the battle (as the Chambersburg, York, and Baltimore Pikes were). There had been an orchard to the right (west) of the road across from the house, but apparently irreparably damaged during the battle with only a couple trees remaining.
