The four handles, adorned with Ch'ih Lung (dragon) heads, hold loose rings. The main body is rigidly stiff and decorated with a register of repetitive stylized Swastikas.* Its footring is disproportionate with the body. The overly decorated relief and compound carving style of this miniature has a sense of vulgarity. Its antique finish look is evidence of the blurring line between social and stylistic characteristics of the Chinese trade market of the recent period when the art of jade carving started its downward trend due changes in technique to meet the demand of the trading industry. It did not mean that any object recently produced was purely art.
