Elizabeth Dollman Jr. paid tax on what appears to be land that she inherited from her parents, located at Little Timber River near James River, based on historical records. A \"tithe\" was a type of tax in Virginia based on the people age 16 or over... Elizabeth Dollman was not assessed this tax because she was female, and the tax didn't apply to white females. What is really interesting is that there were many slave owners in Botetourt Country during the late 1700s and 1800s, it appears that the Dollman family was one of the few landowners that never owned any slaves according the 1820 census and other historical records.
