The text is handwritten, supporting the personal, intimate nature of the poem. The pages of translucent paper provide a luminous, fragile symbolism while also suggesting the Eastern origins of the myth itself. A line of silk thread winds its way through the piece, adding its own narrative touch. The book is lightweight - ethereal and poignant in the way of memory - and easily held in the hand. This work was inspired by the East Asian legend regarding the 'red thread of fate,' whereby those that are destined to meet are bound by a red cord. Paul Brinkley-Rogers, whose memoir Please Enjoy Your Happiness first introduced me to this concept, writes that the cord 'may stretch or tangle, but never break.' Reading his particular love story prompted me to interpret my own red thread tale in artist's book form\"--Artist's statement, Abecedarian Gallery website (accessed July 23, 2018)."},{"label":"Date","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:2018"},{"label":"Publisher","value":"Grays Harbor, Washington : concinnity press"},{"label":"Creator","value":"Larson, Carrie L."},{"label":"Title","value":"Red thread fate"},{"label":"Subject","value":"Artists’ books. ; Poetry."},{"label":"Custodian","value":["Baylor University - Arts and Special Collections Research Center"]}],"description":"Red thread fate","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/faaff2bf-a083-4a20-9fb9-2d2020a1177d/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"fa-bookarts-bkk_n7433-4-l368r43-2018_001","height":2742,"width":4963,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/2227411c-0030-43fc-bc20-76882324b75a/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/2227411c-0030-43fc-bc20-76882324b75a","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":1024,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4,8]}]},"height":2742,"width":4963},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/faaff2bf-a083-4a20-9fb9-2d2020a1177d/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/2227411c-0030-43fc-bc20-76882324b75a/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}},{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/faaff2bf-a083-4a20-9fb9-2d2020a1177d/canvas/_2","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"fa-bookarts-bkk_n7433-4-l368r43-2018_002","height":2719,"width":4932,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/74c8df7a-9140-43d2-94ae-3af2d72de4db/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/74c8df7a-9140-43d2-94ae-3af2d72de4db","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"},"height":2719,"width":4932},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/faaff2bf-a083-4a20-9fb9-2d2020a1177d/canvas/_2","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/74c8df7a-9140-43d2-94ae-3af2d72de4db/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}},{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/faaff2bf-a083-4a20-9fb9-2d2020a1177d/canvas/_3","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"fa-bookarts-bkk_n7433-4-l368r43-2018_003","height":2102,"width":2862,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/ff886f2f-d756-4416-85fb-3f81ac6d34aa/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/ff886f2f-d756-4416-85fb-3f81ac6d34aa","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"},"height":2102,"width":2862},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/faaff2bf-a083-4a20-9fb9-2d2020a1177d/canvas/_3","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/ff886f2f-d756-4416-85fb-3f81ac6d34aa/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/2227411c-0030-43fc-bc20-76882324b75a/full/300,300/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/digitalcollections-baylor/iiif/logo"}
