Now Casey wasn't fooling, for he said he'd do or die, And if he couldn't ride the thing he'd know the reason why, So he took it by the handles and then led it to the street, With one foot upon the pedal quickly leaped into the seat. Just then he felt an earthquake and the wheel become a wreck, Pat was badly mixed up in the spokes and standing on his neck, The dust got in his mouth and eyes, he could not speak or see And it took the boys three hours just to get poor Casee free. You'd a thought it was all over, for a month poor Pat was lame, But he's brave as any lion and is strong as well as game, So when he had recovered very quickly learned to ride, And he joined the swellest club in town of which he is the pride He's hardly ever off his wheel, and has to act as scout, For the indians from ev'rywhere that always ride about They all declare he is the best that ere came down the pike, And they shout with glee, look! there he comes, its Casey on a Bike. Of course Pat has a sweetheart and one day they did elope, Her papa had said they must not wed, it was their only hope, They thought a tandem just the thing for comfort and for speed, And they started very early, almost sure that they'd succeed. They had almost reach'd the parson when a tire did explode, And the tandem turned a sommerset and spill'd them in the road, They had hardly got upon their feet when it began to rain, So they had to leave the wheel in soak and come back on the train. Chorus Ev'ry body's happy when Pat Casey's in the lead, As a scorcher, he's a wonder, there's no limit to his speed, He's as Irish as potatoes, but his manners you would like, He's a favorite with
