A friend of his persuaded him To try and take a ride, And after lots of coaxing Soon the wheel he was astride ; With one good push and he was off And Mike he yelled aloud \"Don't stop me, now, begorry, I'm a sailing on a cloud!\" He thought a record he would make, So out he went one day And tried to beat a trolley car And quickly lead the way. When he had gone a block or so And thought he'd strike a pace, Bedad! he struck a brick instead And landed on his face! He heard a burglar in his house, One night while in his bed, And quickly mounted on his wheel And for a policemen sped. He rode about four miles in haste When a copper gave a shout \"Young man, I'll have to run you in, For sure your lamp is out!\" Then he drank eight hot whiskies And got on such a load The only riding he could do Was make \"S's\" in the road. His wife when she espied him \"You're drunk, Michael, \" she said ; \"I'm not, I'm only scorching, So now just close your head.\" So next he tried a thandem And Johanna with him went. He showed her all the country roads, For on pleasure they were bent, All at once they heard a bang! The hose has bust you say. \"Well, we're twelve miles from the shanty, And must hoof it all the way. At a fine hotel Mike stopped one night, And when he went to bed The porter showed the electric light \"Watch me turn it off, \" he said. \"I see that now quite plainly, Because I am no jay, But lave a
