The storm caused the collapse of the R.T. Dennis Furniture Co., 426-428 Austin Avenue, and the Tom Padgitt Building (R.T. Dennis Warehouse) 425-427 Franklin Avenue, as seen in the rubble. The picture also shows the Amicable (Alico) in the background, and the remnants of its neighboring structures spilled over onto 5th Street, which these buildings once stood tall over. Jaworski resided in the nearby Roosevelt Hotel (400 Austin Avenue) and had a medical practice on the third floor of the Amicable (ALICO) Building. In the aftermath of the storm, he also led medical care of the wounded at Waco's Hillcrest Hospital. Jaworski served in WWII as a colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Corp and treated personnel with combat wounds.
