It was taken in the weeks or months after the 1953 tornado. Noticeable is the post tornado architecture of the city where some of the buildings are missing completely around the Alico Building (such as the R.T. Dennis Building, Padgitt’s Building, etc…) and are badly damaged around Bridge Street, Austin Avenue, and Mary Avenue (McLendon Hardware Building). Some of the main city streets shown include (left-right) Columbus Avenue, Washington Avenue, Austin Avenue, Franklin Avenue, Mary Avenue, Jackson Avenue, Webster Avenue, Clay Avenue, Ross Avenue, and more. Temple Rodef Shalom Synagogue is seen the lower center on Washington Avenue.
