The mall was the keystone project of the Superblock development in downtown Des Plaines, located on Ellinwood Street between Lee and Pearson Streets. The mall opened with several local retail businesses, the First National Bank, and Spiegler's Department Store as tenants. The mall and Superblock development failed to live up to expections; the mall management company went bankrupt in 1983.
