Kennedy in Des Plaines, Illinois on October 25, 1960, proceeding north by car on Lee Street into the intersection of Lee and Miner Street. Police Officer Willard \"Bud\" Blume of Des Plaines can be seen standing behind the car on the right. According to a report in the October 27, 1960 edition of the Des Plaines Suburban Times, John F. Kennedy officially began his election run for President of the United States when he gave a speech on the morning of Tuesday, October 25, 1960 in front of the O'Hare Inn. Crowds began to gather in front of the motel at about 8:30 am. After Senator Kennedy's speech, his twelve car motorcade proceeded down Mannheim road to Lee street in downtown Des Plaines. With him were Senator Paul Douglas, Democratic committeeman Tom Brady; Otto Kerner, Democratic nominee for governor, and Kennedy's sister Eunice Shriver, who at that time resided in Evanston, Illinois (none of whom are identified in this photograph)."},{"label":"Rights Statement","value":"IN COPYRIGHT: http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/.
